Accessibility

We believe it’s important that our exhibitions are accessible to everyone, and we’re committed to making your visit as enjoyable as possible. On this page, you’ll find the practical information you need about our museum’s accessibility.
 

Personal Guidance  

Visitors who are unable to navigate their way through the museum independently may bring a companion free of charge.

Please provide the name of the companion and the date of the visit at least 2 working days before your visit by contacting us at service@fabirque-lumieres.com. On the day of the visit, your companion will receive a free admission ticket at the ticket desk.  

Visitors with Epilepsy, migraines or dizziness

While we strive to welcome all visitors, please be aware that our exhibitions may not be suitable for everyone. They feature moving images, occasional flashes, and loud sounds, which could be challenging for individuals with epilepsy, migraines, or sensitivity to vertigo. If you are affected by any of these conditions, we advise against visiting.

Walking Aids and Wheelchairs

Wheelchairs, wheeled walkers, and mobility scooters weighing up to 500 kg are permitted in the museum. You can loan a foldable seat or a wheelchair at the entrance. There are 10 foldable seats and 2 wheelchairs available. It is not possible to reserve the foldable seats or wheelchairs.

Other Facilities

Fabrique des Lumières is partially wheelchair accessible. Almost all rooms are located on the ground floor. Only the elevated platform in the main hall and the toilet on the first floor are not wheelchair accessible. There is one accessible toilet on the ground floor.

Please note: The exhibition rooms are connected by large doors that require the be opened manually. This might be difficult for visitors using wheelchairs who are attending the exhibition alone. Our staff are happy to assist, but we recommend to bring a companion who can help with opening the doors.

Visitors with a Service Dog

Registered service dogs are welcome at Fabrique des Lumières. Please demonstrate that your service dog is working by wearing a vest or harness. Service dogs do not need to be registered prior to the visit.  

Tips for a quiet museum visit

The museum's crowds are difficult to predict and depend on the day, week, and time. We recommend planning your visit in the morning or in the evening and to avoid visiting in the weekends or in a public holiday. Often those time slots are the quietest, although there are no guarantees.

Sunflower Lanyard for visibility

Not all disabilities are visible. Fabrique des Lumières recognizes and respects individuals wearing a Sunflower Lanyard. This lanyard is for people with invisible disabilities such as autism, Alzheimer's, dementia, or PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder).

Parking  

I have a parking card for people with a disability :
There are several accessible parking spaces located near Fabrique des Lumières. With a parking card for people with disabilities, you can park at one of those spaces for a maximum of 3 hours. These spaces cannot be reserved.  

Before parking you have to report to the gatekeeper overseeing the premises at Westergasbrug 193. They will assign you a parking spot. The parking lot is approximately 200 meters from the entrance.  


I don’t have a parking card for people with a disability :
If you don’t have a parking card for people with disabilities and you have difficulty walking, you can be dropped off at Westergasbrug 193. From here, it's approximately 200 meters to the entrance. Parking is available at Q-Park Westergasfabriek, which is located 600 meters from Fabrique des Lumières.  


Information for busses /coaches : 
Coaches are not allowed near Fabrique des Lumières. Please find a stop or parking spaces in before your visit via tourbuzz.amsterdam.
