Secret worlds: a journey between mathematics and magic
In 'Foreign Nature', Julius Horsthuis uses computer-generated fractals to create a universe where art and mathematics converge and the boundaries between the organic and the artificial, the micro and macro, begin to blur
In this hypnotic experience, we travel through mysterious mechanical worlds and enigmatic organic alien landscapes. There might be forms you recognise from everyday life here, like a shape-shifting cathedral, or a heart turned into an organic-industrial hybrid. Embark on a journey of discovery through this cosmic environment of fractal realms.
The music, specially composed by Ben Lukas Boysen, makes this an immersive, titillating audiovisual experience.
“My kind of art can be compared with the art of a photographer, a cinematographer or a documentary maker, it is showing something that exists, like the fractal exists. I didn’t create it, I didn’t come up with it, I found it. And I’m trying to show that journey of discovery and that is where the creative part comes in.” – Julius Horsthuis
